Munisha Khatwani invests in salon business with partner Sameer Thakur: We’ve been thinking of doing something together for long

They are not just partners in love, but in business as well. Actor-tarot reader-astrologer Munisha Khatwani and her beau Sameer Thakur, a businessman by profession, have invested in a beauty and care venture. They have joined hands with Vabez Wankadia and Dheeraj of Sam’s Salon and have been working together since July last year. The team is now shifting one of their outlets in Bandra, Mumbai, to a bigger space that will have better facilities. Khatwani is keyed up about how things are shaping up and is planning the much-awaited inauguration this weekend.

“I love salons and enjoy pampering myself. I find the entire salon concept of making people happy and confident interesting. Sam (Sameer Thakur’s nickname), on other hand, has been meaning to invest in some alternative business. We were thinking of doing something together and decided to join hands with Vabez and Dheeraj, they have been doing excellent work with Sam’s Salon. We didn’t want to speak about it earlier as we wanted to give it some time to see how things shape up. I must admit that things have been going well,” says Khatwani. Explaining why they chose Bandra for their all new outlet, she adds, “I stay in Bandra and Sam lives in Khar. If you stay nearby it becomes easier to supervise and be there whenever required. Also, we anyway had a presence in Dr Ambedkar Road in Bandra for ten years. We are now shifting that particular branch to a 1300 square feet area space on the same road.”

So what is the specialty about this salon that separates it from the rest? “Sam’s Unisex Salon and Spa gives you a super-specialty luxurious experience within your budget. You find the best products, equipment and services but within an affordable price and that too in an area in Bandra. Vabez and Dheeraj are very passionate about how they have been running this place. Every customer is given special private care. They themselves supervise everything to make sure everyone gets individual attention. What else would you ask for,” she shares.

The name of the salon seems to go with Khatwani’s partner’s name. So was it a conscious decision on their part to choose this brand? “This is a simple coincidence and definitely a happy one. Sameer’s pet name is Sam and the salon’s names are the same and we found that to be all the more perfect. Sadly, Sam won’t be there during our inauguration this Friday, he is in Africa for his business-related work. But he will be with us in spirits. Once he is back, we might do a small celebration,” she shares. Khatwani feels in times like these it is secured to have an alternate way of earning money. That acts as a backup and helps one sail through bad times.

“Covid-19 gave all of us a reality check. It’s important to have a backup in these times is what I also believe in. Now salon business is thriving. People do visit salons and spas to take care of themselves, feel and look better. So we thought of exploring that business. That’s why, apart from being an actor, I shifted my attention to Tarot and Astrology. That way I am in no competition and have something else to do as well. It’s also healthy for the mind to invest your heart and thoughts in something else,” she concludes.
